Herb
Guayusa is a tea made from the leaves of the plant Ilex guayusa, a species of holly that grows in the Amazon, primarily in Ecuador, Peru, and parts of Colombia. The plant is known for its high caffeine content and is considered to have similar effects to coffee in terms of energy and alertness, but it also contains L-theanine, which is believed to counteract some of the effects of caffeine.
Guayusa has been used by the indigenous peoples of the Amazon for hundreds of years. Native communities, particularly the Kichwa people in Ecuador, have consumed guayusa tea as part of their daily rituals and ceremonies.
